Dog and Other Animal Bites – A Victim’s Choice

Dog and other animal bites are some of the most painful and damaging types of injuries regularly sustained. Not only is the puncture wounds themselves painful, there are issues such as simple infections, rabies, and other diseases to watch for in the case of animal bites. In many cases, the mental anguish that surrounds an animal bite can be horrific. It may be difficult to go on with everyday life when you have been viscously attacked by an animal that is not properly controlled by its owner.

If you or someone you care for is the victim of a dog or other animal bite, you know the pain and personal trauma that surrounds an attack such as this. If the animal involved in the attack belonged to another individual or a business, you may be able to bring the party to court with a lawsuit to receive compensation for your injuries.

In an animal bite lawsuit you may be entitled to not only medical costs that have arisen out of the attack, you could be entitled to costs accrued because of time off work and in some cases you may be able to sue for pain and suffering, ongoing medical care and mental anguish. This will all depend on the details and severity of the case. Being innocently attacked by an animal is often the type of experience that can negatively impact a person’s entire lifestyle. In some cases victims are unable to be around animals because of fear of being attacked again. Victims in these cases deserve compensation for going through this trauma.

In certain situations, a victim may feel pressured to settle out of court. This may happen if the vicim feels the need to obtain funding quickly because medical bills and costs accrued from being out of work are adding up. Settling out of court is often not the answer. In many cases the victim will receive a more favorable compensation by allowing their lawyer to take the case to trial.

In these situations, it might be in the best interest of the victim to look into obtaining pre settlement funding. Pre settlement funding will supply the victim with income that they need to take care of expenses that may be piling up but at the same time will allow the victim’s lawyer to take the case to trial and get full compensation for the injuries and trauma caused by the animal attack.
